I tried the Avon Magix Face Perfector last year when it was introduced and really liked it. The original formula is colorless and has an SPF of 20. It is great to use to minimize pores and imperfections. It can be used as a makeup primer or in place of foundation.

Avon Anew Concealer – Age-Transforming Concealer SPF 15
June 11, 2009 by Suzanne

I have been using the Avon Anew Concealer – official name anew Age-Transforming Concealer SPF 15 – for a month or so and I really like it. I usually use the Medium color in everything, but in this I decided to get the Natural Neutral color, so it would be a little lighter. The neutral color has worked well for me.
Although this is called a concealer, it is really more like a highlighter. If you use concealer to lighten up your eye area, this alone may do the trick. I love the way it softly highlights the eye area, but the SPF makes it a real winner. It has very hard to find products to use around my eyes with SPF – everything I have ever tried really irritates my sensitive eyes. I have used this alone and it did bother my eyes a bit, but when I use it over my philosophy Supernatural Concealer it not only looks better, it does not irritate my eyes at all.
The concealer comes in six shades – Fair, Light, Neutral, Medium, Golden and Deep. If you have medium skin with very dark undereye circles, you may want to try the Golden, because the peach color will do a better job a concealing darkness. Otherwise I would recommend that you try a shade lighter than your normal makeup shade.
In addition to the SPF 15, which is provided by titanium dioxide and octinoxate, it also contains glycolic acid and other anti-aging ingredients. It is the correct ph for the glycolic acid to mildy exfoliate, so it does also function as a great anti-aging product. And with a $10 price tag, it is a big winner in my book.
It comes in a pen like applicator with a brush. I usually get a small drop from the brush onto my ring finger and gently pat it around my eye area. Along with using this under the eyes it can also be used about the eye, from the brow bone to the eyebrow, to highlight that ares, especially if you do not wear eye shadow on that pat of you eyes.

philosophy Supernatural Concealer Review

I have been using Philosophy Supernatural Concealer
for well over a year and I am of the opinion that it is the best concealer on the planet. It is one of those few products that I start to get nervous if I am running low – I always keep an extra in my stash so that I won’t ever have to go without.
To me, the best thing about it is that it deposits opaque color that easily conceals without any texture at all – which means that it will conceal under-eye darkness without accentuating fine lines!
I use it in the Medium & I use the center color every day under my eyes. It totally conceals any darkness and also slightly brightens the undereye area. I use the color on the left (it has a slightly salmon-ly tint) to conceal any dark area on my face. The color on the right is a perfect match to my skin color and is great for a little coverage.
I held off buying this for a long time because of the price – $25 for concealer seems like a lot to me – but I am so glad that I finally tried it. Using it almost everyday one compact lasted almost a year, so it really turns out to be a good value.
The compact comes with a little brush, I don’t use it – I put it on with my finger. (Use your ring finger to apply under your eyes – it is your “weakest finger” and puts the least amount of pressure on your delicate under-eye tissue.)
This concealer won a Self Magazine award for best concealer. I never want to be without it and I recommend it – especially to women over 40 who want to conceal without accentualing fine lines and wrinkles. It can also be used as an eyelid primer to help your eyemake up stay on longer. Because of the amazing texture that imparts opaque color with no texture, it is good for dry skin (doesn’t dry out), oily skin (doesn’t get greasy)

Cover Girl Fabulous Lash Mascara Review
March 21, 2008 by Suzanne

Cover Girl Fabulous Lash Mascara promises: “3X Volume – Great separation. … a beautiful fan of full, separated lashes with no clumps!”
My Review:
1. Cost – $5.99. At least it was cheap!
2. Brush/Packaging – Nicer than average packaging for drugstore mascara. Average brush – the mascara I tried this week did not have the curved brush that is pictured here – it has a regular brush.
3. Lengthening – I did not notice any lengthening at all (I have fairly decent eyelashes to start with)
4. Thickening – Very minimal thickening, if any, after multiple coats.
5. Staying Power – Virtually nonexistent by the end of the day. I thought it washed off easily with my purity made simple cleanser – but every morning I had black goo around my eyes – yuck.
6. Curl Hold – No curl hold at all – my lashes seemed to straighten out as soon as I started applying it.
7. Clumping – Some clumping, about average in this department.
8. Smudging – I did notice some smudging under my eyes at the end of the day – no raccoon eyes, but definitely a smudge.
9. Flaking – I didn’t see any flaking, but most of the mascara wore off during the day.
10. Contact Lens / Eye Irritation – I had no problems with eye or contact irritation.
The bottom line? – Yuck! I did not care for this one at all – As I said, I have decent lashes & I am on the hunt for lash drama! Absolutely no drama here – not even close. I couldn’t even tell I was wearing mascara by the end of the day. I was surprised to find some positive reviews for this online, but I noticed that some of the reviewers said they had short eyelashes – so maybe it works for short eyelashes. I don’t know, I just think there are WAY better mascaras out there for the same price.
Stash or Trash? – Straight to the trash. 5 Days of this was 5 days too many!! On to something better (I hope!)!!

Maybelline Define-A-Lash Mascara Review
March 13, 2008 by Suzanne
Define-A-Lash promises “zero clump volumizing mascara creates voluptuous volume with clean definition”.
My Review:
1. Cost – $7.95 – a great price for mascara!
2. Brush/Packaging – The brush is flexible and felt really funky the first couple of days, by the end of the week I didn’t even notice it anymore. The tube I used is a very pretty magenta color (the green is waterproof, the magenta is not) – otherwise the packaging is average.
3. Lengthening – Definitely did a decent job of lengthening. Nothing dramatic, but noticeable
4. Thickening – So-so thickening – I used multiple coats to achieve thickening, no drama here, but OK.
5. Staying Power – It did not look the same at the end of the day (like my favorite waterproof mascaras do), but most of it was still there when I took it off. It washed off easily with my purity made simple cleanser.
6. Curl Hold -I curled my lashes before applying the mascara & they stayed curled for the entire day.
7. Clumping -I did not notice any significant clumping – though the end of the brush was clumpy by the end of the week. I did have a problem with getting the mascara on my upper eyelids when applying. I’m not sure if that was an operator error or a design flaw.
8. Smudging – I had no smudging at all this week – I wore it with my regular eye cream.
9. Flaking – I did not notice any flaking at all.
10. Contact Lens / Eye Irritation – I had no problems with eye or contact irritation.
I usually use waterproof mascara, but decided to go with the non-waterproof on this one. Even on the day I had a really bad day & got a little teary, it didn’t run or smudge, I was very impressed with that.
The bottom line? This is a decent mascara – I am impressed with the definition and it has decent lengthening & thickening – this is not a dramatic mascara by any means, but it is a good mascara. I liked it well enough to try the waterproof version in the future.
Stash or Trash? I would definitely use it again. For those of us looking for lash drama, I think this would be a wonderful mascara to use under a more dramatic thickening one, because of the definition & lengthening qualities.
